The LearnSpot winner of the Lifelong Developer Challenge

News

The LearnSpot was in the finals of the Leven Lang Ontwikkelaar Challenge, organized by the province of Gelderland in cooperation with ESTI, on Wednesday afternoon, December 14. The Learnspot competed against two other finalists. And with success: the project emerged as the winner!

With the Lifelong Developer (LLO) Challenge, the province of Gelderland and ESTI set out to find new LLO concepts for Construction, Healthcare, Education and Cybersecurity. Innovative projects and ideas, which can solve shortages and challenges in these sectors, were allowed to participate in the challenge.

Future of The LearnSpot

Josje Verhoeven, director at ROC Rivor, Lydia Post, educational consultant at Nehem and Esther Attenveld, project leader were allowed to pitch for the jury. The pitch consisted of a true "Wrapped" (inspired by Spotify) and a video with the value proposition and challenges that The Learnspot faces in the coming years. This took the judges and fellow finalists into the future.

Innovative approach

The judges' verdict was laudatory: "The LearnSpot is innovative. The approach is like an outboard motor that really triggers innovations in the labor market. The jury finds it inspiring to see that it involves a collaboration between healthcare partners and different forms of education. This is not just any platform; the challenge ahead is to further clarify where LearnSpot stands out from other platforms. It is about democratizing learning."

The Learnspot is incredibly proud of the results achieved so far. "We were already honored to show the province what we are working on. We have been up and running for some time, but winning this challenge now allows us to really get started. This award is recognition of what we are already doing," said Josje Verhoeven.

Next Learning Valley's LXP

The LearnSpot works with Next Learning Valley's Learning Experience Platform (LXP). The LXP is a module of the Learning Suite and is an online environment where all learning takes place. A total of 44 different learning experiences are available: from reading an article to interviewing an expert and from watching a video to explaining something to someone. This allows for both personalized and social learning.

Research

Winning the challenge means that the project, with support from the province, may start implementing the proposed 5x5x5 approach. This approach consists of a research in which The Learnspot will question informal caregivers on their motivation and needs to participate in the project. This in the context of lifelong learning so that they can professionalize their caregiving.

The Learnspot

Is a partnership of educational institutions and care centers in Rivierenland, including ROC Rivor, Nehem, Avans+, Betuwezorg, Next Learning Valley, Zorgcentra de Betuwe and SZR. The online platform offers a flexible, personal and practice-oriented way of learning, in which the learning question is central. This lowers the threshold for (lifelong) learning.
